Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender-Ally (LGBTA)
The lesbian gay bisexual transgender and ally Welcoming Committee actively works to raise the awareness of LGBTA issues and ensure acceptance and celebration of LGBT people, both in our church congregation and in the larger community.
Our committee meets the 3rd Sunday of each month beginning at 11:20. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings.
Our work is supported by the Unitarian Universalist Bisexual Gay Lesbian and Transgender Concerns. Our committee also has membership in Interweave.
On March 20, 2010 we sponsored a workshop on heterosexism led by Dr. Bob Minor, from the University of Kansas. Approximately 44 people attended. Dr. Minor is a Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Kansas and a national resource for information on gender issues and gay/straight relationships. He is also the founder of the Fairness Project.
On April 21, 2010, we sponsored the participants from the Equality Ride. For more information about the Equity Ride, please read this article in the The Lincoln Journal Star.
