BUILDING USE PROTOCOL *UPDATED August 13, 2020
For the foreseeable future, the building will continue to remain closed to most activities. We do not have an exact date as to when this will change because there are many unpredictable factors that will effect the decision. What we do know for certain is that we will not be hosting large gatherings such as Sunday Services until we determine that it is safe to do so.
(See the Rental Policy - UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE below for more details on building use.)
Individuals who need to do repairs or routine maintenance must contact the church office to get the door code. The primary individuals entering the building at this time are core staff and the custodians.
SUMMARY
The following policy statements were affirmed by the Board of Trustees at their August 2020 meeting. Please let our minister Oscar Sinclair or our board president, Trevor Jones, know if you have any questions.
Until we can ensure the safety of building users we will not be allowing outside rentals to use the building. When circumstances change we will communicate through multiple channels. We are relying on information from multiple sources to inform our decision-making including the CDC, WHO, UUA and the Lincoln/Lancaster County Health Department.
RITES OF PASSAGE EXCEPTION
At the Minister’s discretion, rites of passage (Memorials, Celebrations of Life or Weddings) may be scheduled inside or outside of the building with these expectations:

SCAMS VIA EMAIL
The frequency of scam emails has increased since March 2020. Every other week or so we get a flurry of emails from members and friends who are wondering if they are really from our minister Oscar Sinclair.
Here are further clues you know the answer to that question:
1. The emails come from a bogus email address.... Oscar's REAL email is minister@unitarianlincoln.org
2. The emails use language that doesn't sound like the way that Oscar speaks such as "Blessings"
3. Oscar will NEVER ask you for money in this manner. He will never solicit money for himself, the church, or another congregant via email, text or private message.
This information has been the feature of daily eblasts and Oscar's daily videos each time there is a round of scams. If you are not plugged into the daily eblasts, you are missing a lot of important information. Please consider signing up for those at www.unitarianlincoln.org/mailing-list. We do not want our members to fall victim to these scammers. Please help us spread the word.
