Member Groups
The 'A' Street Band
Our house band, The 'A' Street Band, is comprised of church members who enjoy playing contemporary music including folk, jazz, and rock. They provide music for our church services and social events. Musicians and singers interested in making music with the band should contact Roger Geery.
Drama Club
The UU Drama Club (Kdg. and up) explores various aspects of the theatre and then utilizes them in a child-led service. In 2012, the group will meet in the Gathering Place from 11:15-12:15 on Sundays from Jan. 8 - Feb. 5 in order to prepare for the Feb. 12 worship service.
Flash! Youth Band
Flash! utilizes the many musical talents of our middle and high school youth. The arrangements for th
e group are adapted to fit whatever musicians are available for a given performance. In the past, the group has utliized piano, percussion, bass, guitar, vocals, trumpet and clarinet on pop and jazz standards. The group is led by member and local jazz artist, Nancy Marshall.
Gopher Baroque
Gopher Baroque consists of a group of musicians who began gathering in February of 2011 with the idea of performing some of the arrangements of The Swingle Singers, a popular group in the late 70s. They perform at our worship services two or three times per year and at occasional community events.

Greased Lightning
Greased Lightning, one of our newest member ensembles, is comprised of - and named by - strings players in upper elementary through high school. They join together to play at one or two services during the year. Some of the advanced players also rehearse more challenging music for occasional presentation. They are directed by one of our members, Carla Schoenbaum, who is a strings specialist with the Lincoln Public Schools.

Lincoln Community Drum Circle
Our church is sponsoring a new drum circle which will meet outside (weather permitting) on the last Sunday of every month. Bring a drum or use the drums and percussion that will be provided!

Men's Choir
The men in our church join together occasionally to sing one or two pieces in a service. If you would like an experience of singing with other men, please contact Julie Enersen to be added to the mailing list.
The One-Hour Choir is a self-contained, show-up-that morning, open-to-all experience that happens 2-3 times a year. When it's scheduled, singers show up Sunday morning at 9:00, rehearse one or two songs and then sing in the service. The choir is for folks whose schedules are not compatible
with the committed, Wednesday-nightchoir rehearsal routine. It's for folks whose situations don't allow them to plan or commit to much of anything ahead. It's for families who would enjoy singing together. It's for folks who enjoy singing, but only if the music is simple and the atmosphere is casual.
Starting at 9:00, the group practices a song or two chosen to be comfortably learned and polished in the rehearsal period. Ability to read music, or even read words, is NOT required since the songs are mainly taught by rote (repetition). The group adds harmony, if it wants to, or stays in unison, if it needs to. After a short break, The One-Hour Choir regroups and proudly sings at the 10:00 service. That's all there is to it!

UU Flute Ensemble
The UU Flute Ensemble is a small group of flute and recorder players that meets regularly to practice and share its members' love of music. The group plays music from a variety of eras including Renaissance and Baroque and performs several times a year at church.

Women's Choir
Once or twice a year, the girls and women in our church raise their voices together in song. The Women's Choir is open to all females in our church ages 12 and up. The ability to read music is helpful but not required as rehearsal recordings will be available for singers to use. The group traditionally performs on Easter or Mother's Day and then once in the fall.
Youth Choirs
The Flicker Choir (preschool) meets in the preschool room during the first 5-10 minutes of RGL time on Youth Choir Sundays. Students depart from the auditorium and gather on the rug in their room for some singing. Jenny Tyner and Sandra Washington share the responsibility of working with the preschoolers.
The Flame Choir (Kdg. - Gr. 3) meets from 11:15 - 11:45 on Youth Choir Sundays. Shelly Fowler directs the group with assistance from Karen Heafer. Singers report to the Room 8 at 11:15 for ten minutes of group singing before their individual choir practice begins.
