Visual Arts

Art Gallery
Each month, our Gallery Room features the art of a different local artist or group of artists. If you would like to have your art displayed, know of an artist whose work might show well in our space, please contact Sarah Feit, our gallery organizer.
Sanctuary Aesthetics
The front of our sanctuary provides a wonderful space for featuring art. At the 2010 Friendship Service, we created a community art display of tassels which represented the various textures and colors of all of our friends. The 2011 Youth-led Service graced us with the "Tower of Community" built by our own hands. In recent years, we've also been pleased to display gorgeous quilts by our member Phyllis Higley.
Suggestions about art for our worship space are always welcome and will be considered by a committee of artists and worship leaders. Please send ideas to Julie Enersen, Worship Arts Director.
Chalice Art
Our sanctuary chalices were created by church member Larry Pelter. Larry is the owner/manager of
Salt Creek Potters Workshop and specializes in Raku-processed ceramics. The chalice design is based on an invocation by Nelson Mandela: "Let us take care of the children, for they have a long way to go. Let us take care of the elders, for they have come a long way. And let us take care of those in between for they are doing the work." The hands on the chalice are taken from molds of our members' hands undefined children, the elders, and those in between
