Wonderful Wednesdays 2012

February 15, 22, 29 • March 7, 21, 28

Mid-week programming for all ages – the young and not so young! Y'all come!

Wonderful Wednesdays is a time for all ages to gather in community for a good meal and inspiring programming. It will nurture your spirit, and fulfill your intellectual curiosity all within the familiar surrounds of church. Take a mid-week break from the rest of your usual activities to relax with friends over a tasty meal. 

6:00 - 6:40 PM - Dinner served $6 per person...ages 9 and below eat free
6:30 PM - Clean-up begins
7 PM - Programming begins (see below)

The Wonderful Details

Supper is served from 6:00 to 6:40. We will offer wholesome food both vegetarian and meat dishes. Reservations for dinner are required and must be made by the Monday prior to the Wednesday you intend to come to dinner. Cancellations are due on the same Monday.  RSVP by registering online or by signing up at the Welcome table on Sunday morning or by phoning the church office. Cost of the meal will be $6 for adults and children 10 and above. 

Clean-up will begin at 6:30 and end at 7. Please take dirty dishes to the kitchen as soon as possible so that the kitchen crew can be finished by 7:00.

Cooks don’t clean up. If you help to prepare a meal, you do not have to help with the kitchen cleanup.

Registration of children is required. 

Registration for all Facilitated Classes is also required. There is limited seating in the classrooms so register early. 

Programming

Childcare will be available for our littlest ones!! Our RE childcare providers will be on duty in the pre-school room from 6:15 - 9:00 PM.

Pre-school through elementary will have the fun of being together in our pre-school room and in our movie, game and activity room, room # 11, next door to the pre-school room. Older students can also participate in the Chess drop-in class.

Our Middle & High School young people will have the opportunity to take part in the Youth In Action programming planned by the students and their adult supervisors. Coordinator - Chelsea Maitland

Adult Growth and Learning Classes will begin at 7:00 and finish at 9. Registration in advance is important because of classroom size. We will again offer both drop-in classes and four or six week classes. See below for more information on classes.

"Tipping Points and Unscrambling Eggs: 
How to morally and practically act on Global Warming"

4 weeks continuous 2/15 - 3/7...or longer depending on interest

The ideal participant in this class wants to learn what to do about the greatest challenge our species has ever faced.  We will clarify the science and the politics.  NOTE: This is not a forum to debate various objections to scientific findings. (For that, see the Skeptical Science web site: http://www.skepticalscience.com/argument.php )

"Live a Magical Life: Connecting with others"
6 weeks continuous

This is a Creative Life Coaching workshop will use visual and creative activities to define, explore and re-discover your connection with family and friends in your life. The workshop requires each individual to be open, sharing, and introspective. Due to the nature of the workshop it requires only individuals who can commit to the full 6 weeks. Each weekly session has a "limited" outside work between sessions. 
Attendance all four weeks required and $10 class fee for materials.

"Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life"
6 weeks continuous

Focus on connecting to other through empathic listening rather than "being right" or "getting what you want". Create personal and professional relationships grounded in mutual respect, compassion, and emotional safety.  Move beyond power struggles to cooperation and trust.

"Welcoming Congregation - Refresher Course"
6 weeks continuous

Welcoming LGBT people isn’t finished after the UUA recognizes a church as a Welcoming Congregation. Turnover and changes to congregational life happen, and the wider culture has also changed with respect to sexual orientation and gender identity. Learn and/or renew your dedication to being part of a Welcoming Congregation.

Drop-In Classes

All Ages Chess Club
All ages, all abilities club for those who like to play chess.

Creative Arts
Bring any creative activity you are working on and chat with others.

Choir - February 22 & 29, March 21 & 28 
Rehearse with the choir in preparation for the March 4 and April 1 services.
