On April 26, 2026 our members voted overwhelmingly (98+%) to call The Rev. Karen Armina as our new minister! She will begin her contract as our next settled minister on August 1, 2026. HOW WE GOT HERE (timeline)
In June 2025, your ministerial search committee was commissioned by the congregation and charged with the task of following the UUA processes to find our next settled minister. The seven people you chose were Kathy Disney, Shelly Fowler, Deb Hope, Colleen Kadleck, Allison Starr, Gillian Toland and Sändra Washington. Gillian moved out of state and the committee is grateful for her contributions.
Of the “crop” of ministers seeking settled ministry, who would best serve our congregation in 2026 and on into the future? The committee conducted a survey of the congregation and 144 members and friends responded. They spent time with approximately 20 committees and small groups to hear hopes and dreams about our next ministerial partnership. The “Break Barriers, Build Beliefs” workshop was held last fall and forty people attended to learn about diversity and inclusion in our congregation and beyond. All this hope and information was poured into our congregational record which was submitted in December.
Interviews with ministers interested in our congregation led us to three pre-candidates who visited Lincoln for more extensive interviews and mutual discernment. Choices of congregations and ministers were ranked. Rev. Karen Armina was our first choice and the Unitarian Church of Lincoln (UCL) was her first choice!
