On Sunday, October 25, we will welcome Rachel Tomlinson Dick, Executive Director of OutNebraska as a recipient of our Share the Plate program. OutNebraska works to empower, celebrate, and cultivate thriving LGBTQ+ and transgender communities across Nebraska. Through advocacy, education, community-building, and inclusivity training, the organization works toward a Nebraska where LGBTQ+ people can live openly, participate fully, and feel a sense of belonging.
This fall, OutNebraska is leading the Fairness for All coalition, which is providing education and advocacy regarding Initiative 442, the “Fairness for Girls” constitutional amendment on Nebraska’s November 3 ballot. The proposed amendment would establish constitutional requirements for how schools designate and operate sex-separated athletic teams. OutNebraska and its coalition partners oppose the amendment, arguing that it would further restrict transgender students and place these provisions in the state constitution. Members of our congregation who would like to participate in canvassing or phone banking with Fairness for All can contact Bailee at [email protected]. OutNebraska is also preparing for its annual Unity Ball, a major fundraising celebration that supports the organization’s work while celebrating LGBTQ+ Nebraskans and bringing community together. Learn more at outnebraska.org/theunityball/. This October, help us support OutNebraska as part of our efforts to create beloved community and justice for all.
