​OUR ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

The organization chart was updated in summer 2025. This and other Governance Docs are found in the Governance folder linked below. The members are the top tier "stakeholders" in the church, of course, and there is a democratic process to elect lay leaders such as Board of Trustees (BOT) members.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Board of Trustees (BOT) has established the following priorities for 2025:
  • to use our interim period to discern who we want to be as a church - in terms of size, programming, priorities, and congregational life.
  • to manage our current budget to best meet the needs of the congregation during this time of transition.
  • to use UUA resources and other programs relating to leadership, faith development, etc., to strengthen and broaden our understanding and knowledge of congregational needs and support in a changing cultural environment.

PROGRAM COUNCIL
​

In conjunction with paid staff, the day-to-day operations are governed by the Program Council. The Program Council is organized into six clusters. The chairs and task organizers within each cluster have their own goals and projects. Contact information is maintained and listed alphabetically by the name of the group or committee in the Committees and Activities Leaders document at the button below.

The Board Trustees are elected to serve three-year terms. ​The Treasurer is appointed to a two-year term.

​​The Board of Trustees gathers past monthly meeting and Congregational meeting minutes in the Unitarian Church of Lincoln (UCL) - UCL Board Minutes folder.

CONGREGATIONAL MEETINGS

The Winter Congregational Meeting is held in early December. The Spring Congregational Meeting is held in late-May or early-June. We precede these meetings with two Town Halls in order to present information and give members an open forum to ask questions. 

When the Board of Trustees sets the dates for these meetings, they are announced through several channels including the newsletter, weekly e-blasts and the online calendar in the footer of this website.

At the 2025 Winter Congregation Meeting on Sunday, December 7 at 11:30AM, members will vote whether to approve the 2025 Spring Congregational Meeting minutes, vote on Nominations Committee candidates, a proposed bylaw change, and the proposed 2026 Operating Budget.

HOW WILL VOTING WORK?

Voting will be done by VIRTUAL BALLOT through a Google Form linked to this governance page of the website and sent in an all-church email on December 7, 2025.

If you are not able to vote online, you may pick up a physical ballot from the church office after the Winter Congregational Meeting on Sunday, December 7, 2025 and either fill it out right away or turn it in on Tuesday, December 9 before 11:30 AM. (Please remember that the church office is closed on Mondays.)

This Virtual Ballot will go live on Sunday, December 7, 2025. Voting will be open for 48 hours from Sunday, December 7, 2025 at 11:30 AM to Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at 11:30 AM. Results will be announced in the eblast at NOON on Friday, December 12, 2025 and on Sunday, December 14, 2025 as a part of the announcements.

The VIRTUAL BALLOT will include voting on:
  • Approval of the 2025 Spring Congregational Minutes,
  • Nominations Committee Candidates,
  • a Proposed Bylaws change, and
  • the Proposed 2026 Operating Budget.

In order to be a VOTING MEMBER at the Winter 2025 Congregational Meeting, you must meet the following criteria:

* Signed the membership book more than one month prior to the meeting.

We generally leave up the last congregational meeting before the current one, for at least six months, for continuity sake.

​We will present information and invite questions at the two Town Halls May 25, 2025 and June 1, 2025. The Town Halls are your opportunity to meet the board candidates and ask questions about any of the agenda items. 

At the Spring Congregational Meeting on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at 11:30AM, members will hear reports from key leaders. Members will also vote for Share the Plate recipients, Ministerial Search Committee and Board Candidates.
