PLANNING FOR RE-ENTRY

GUIDING PRINCIPLES
Congregational safety is a core duty of church leadership. Beyond that, our decision making is guided by our Unitarian Universalist faith, which proclaims:
  • There is intrinsic value in the act of gathering as a community. Whether in person or online, our faith is strengthened by being together.
  • Each person is the expert on their own life, and their own risk tolerances.
  • Each person in our community has inherent worth and dignity, so we have a collective responsibility to care for the most vulnerable among us.
  • Our lives are interconnected, so we will work to provide the same opportunities to all congregants.

We have made exciting plans which include offering opportunities for outdoor activities and worship services over the next several months, with full re-entry (two Sunday services, one live-streamed) in September as long as we are in Step E of the Stepwise Plan and the Lincoln-Lancaster Covid-19 Risk Dial is in Green.

The Lancaster County Risk Dial is available at https://app.lincoln.ne.gov/city/covid19/ and updated every Tuesday.

We developed a Stepwise Plan for Re-Entry and a Summer Emergence Series which were announced at the April 4 Worship Service and sent out in the April 2021 Newsletter. We are developing signage that will be used onsite as we begin gathering (Covid-19 and Re-Entry Behavior Expectations.) Links to the full documents are below the FAQ.

Thank you to everyone who responded to the recent survey which helped to guide much of our decision-making. Please contact someone on the Re-Entry Task Force if you have any questions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Question: When will we be able to start meeting indoors for Sunday Services?
Answer: We begin piloting indoor Sunday Services in Step C of the Stepwise Plan when the dial is in Low Yellow.

Question: When will small groups be able to begin meeting outside on the church grounds?
Answer: Small groups may meet outside on the church grounds in Step B of the Stepwise Plan. We will not be able to offer restroom access in Step B as access to the building remains limited and staff are working from home. Please contact our Administrative Director Jean Helms if you would like to discuss this opportunity and it's nuances. As of April 1, 2021 we are in Step B of the Stepwise Plan.

Question: When will Sunday School start for our youth?
Answer: We begin piloting in person Sunday School in Step C of the Stepwise Plan when the dial is in Low Yellow. Keep an eye on eblasts and emails from Religious Growth Director Chelsea Krafka for updates.
