The C.A. Sorensen Lecture Series originated in 1996 partially funded through a gift from Tom Sorensen, one of C.A.’s five children. The Sorensen Lecture Series Committee at the Unitarian Church of Lincoln is charged with planning an annual lecture of general interest related to a contemporary issue.
Due to the coronavirus’ impact on our church and community, the 2020 Sorensen Lecture was not held. Instead, in January, the Committee will begin to plan an event for Fall, 2021 when we hope to include youth and others to address issues related to racial/cultural understanding and justice. We hope to involve youth in the presentation and possibly the planning. To determine our specific subject area for a 2-hour time period, we are planning to involve community representatives in one of several “focus groups” to help us refine the large subject area into a manageable topic. Any member of the congregation will be welcome to contribute to these focus groups.
