Unitarian Universalists (UUs) view social justice as a core expression of our faith. Rather than separating belief from action, we summarize our approach as deeds not creeds, treating community activism and systemic change as a central form of spiritual practice. Social justice is foundational to the religious identity of the Unitarian Universalism.

JUSTICE IN ACTION
The Unitarian Church of Lincoln is a founding member of Justice in Action, an interfaith, grassroots coalition of faith communities in Lancaster County that harnesses the power of organized people to address big community problems.

Once a year, our members vote for ten local organizations that are doing good work in our community on a variety of issues. We receive three or four dozen nominations every year. The selected nonprofits receive all designated checks and loose cash collected as a part of one service a month. We also give the organization any online/text donations given during their month.

INTERFAITH HOUSING COALITION
At the request of Lincoln's mayor, the Unitarian Church of Lincoln entered into a partnership with the City of Lincoln, First Plymouth Congregational and St. Paul United Methodist churches in purchasing and restoring two downtown residential buildings to be used for affordable housing. The two buildings--the President and the Ambassador--are located directly across the street west of the state capitol building. We continue to have a presence on the Board, over three decades.
