SELF CARE

I saw a Tarot Card Reader about a year ago. Although I read my own cards, I was interested in what someone else might see. The message was, "you need more self care". I thought to myself, "I paid for someone to tell me what I already know". So, even though you KNOW you should do self-care...this time during the pandemic can be overwhelming and it can be hard to remember to take time for your own wellbeing.

A friend on Facebook posed the following question: "What are some low effort, low stakes ways that you have found to nurture yourself and others in this time of extreme burn out?"

Here were some of the responses:
  • "I collect fairly carefree memes and send them to my friends every Friday"
  • "Nervous system resets through HeartSpace Clinic! Offered 5 times per day. Open to anyone. 10 minutes only. Go to www.heartspaceclinic.org to sign up. You will get an email with the zoom link to use each time"
  • "I bought a 6"x6"x4" cedarwood box. I keep my beeswax candles in it. In the morning I sit with my full-spectrum light, open the box, inhale the smell of cedar and beeswax, and then pull out a candle to light"
  • "Popcorn and hot chocolate around the fire while listening to audiobooks - with and without children"
  • "I lay down in the yard. Sometimes face-up, sometimes face-down"
  • "lighting candles at night. unconditional permission to pick up a treat (a hot chocolate, a smoothie, a donut, a crunchwrap supreme) while I’m out running errands. buying more plants than necessary. making dates with friends to watch tv shows at the same time and text throughout."
  • "Puzzles, walking outside and limiting my news consumption"
I hope that you are able to find ways to care for yourself this next month.

Peace, faith, and love,

Chelsea
