This year we held our annual SoUUper Supper potluck online through YouTube on December 19! With music from Julie Enersen (and choir friends), Jack Forbes Wilson, Sylvie Lozier, and Bob Fuson, we danced our way through the night. The SoUUper Supper also included stories from Jason Slaughter, Kim Ziemann, and a couple of stories read by me. Isabel and Emma Letts brought an art project to our event. Staff members made cameo appearances and mentioned what we would have brought to our potluck if we had been in person. You can watch the video with this LINK if you missed out on the original or you just want to relive the experience.

We also premiered a new event in December 2020 ... our Stuffed Animal Sleepover! From getting into the copy machine in the office, singing hymns around the piano, and rummaging in our craft supply closet, our animal friends had quite the adventure while the building was otherwise not occupied! Children and adults alike were encouraged to register their stuffie friends for a mini-camp at the church over LPS winter break. Each animal friend went home with a mask to help keep them and their human companions safe. This was a fun way to remind our church community of what the inside of our church building looks like, and for them to connect with our space in a safe way during the pandemic.

Looking forward to all the new adventures that 2021 will bring to us!

Dear UU Parents and Guardians,

Wow. Yesterday was a hard day.
So many emotions with the joys and also the sorrows.(Skipping Imagination theme for this week for parent resources...let's otherwise envision this as 'IMAGINE a peaceful country resources'....(oof))
These are some good articles that I found about processing the events on Jan. 6th with your children.
Talking about traumatic events is never easy.
I hope this helps you to think through with your family a bit about what happened when Trump Supporters stormed Washington.
Also - please remember to do self-care, dear ones. We are only our best parenting when we are centered and taking care of our own needs.

(this would be a good video to watch to support that whole self-care notion for parents)

30 Stuffed Animals registered for our Stuffed Animal sleepover for winter break.
The Stuffie friends have taken over the church while we are closed to humans during the pandemic.
This has been a really fun way to re-connect children (and some adults) with what the interior of our building looks like.
Check out the first 4 videos here. Even if you didn't register your own Stuffie, these videos are still a lot of fun to watch.
There's still a few more videos to come!

December 24th: Christmas Eve Service will be at 5pm so that families can join before bedtime (Or the rush to wrap those final gifts and get cookies out for Santa...) An ALL AGES service. For as long as I can remember, this was the playlist we listened to when we decorated the tree at my home when I was a child. I have carried on this tradition with my own children. Loreena's Christmas cds are also lovely, but there's something especially haunting and special about The Book of Secrets, The Visit, and The Mask and the Mirror.

Dear UU Parents and Guardians,

Chalice lighters needed!

Is your family willing to send in a video of you lighting a chalice (or a candle) to be used during our YouTube services?
If so - please send as an email attachment or as a link to a google file (make sure it's 'shareable') to me by December 31st at the latest.
The video will likely have words or music dubbed over it - so no need to say anything. Simply light the chalice and smile :)

It would be lovely if you could join us for our weekly gatherings!

Save the Dates! Stuffed Animal Sleepover!

While the church is empty, our stuffie friends will play! Adults and children alike are invited to bring a stuffed animal friend to the church and place in a
rubbermaid container outdoors.

Drop off stuffies December 19 and 20 from Noon to 5:00PM or December 21 from 5:30PM-7:30PM. PLEASE be sure
this is a friend you can be without for an extended period of time!

The animals will quarantine for 3 days before playing with one another.
Chelsea will record the entertainment that ensues over LPS Winter Break, and you will return to the church to pick up your friend and wash upon returning home
January 2 or 3 from Noon to 5:00PM or January 4 from 5:30PM-7:30PM.

All stuffed animals must register.

More details and registration form will arrive in this email next week.

Here is what is currently being offered:

NO SUNDAY SCHOOL THIS WEEK!

Please join us at 10am on YouTube for an ALL AGES service! There will be a story, an activity, and singing!
We will also have a Town Hall meeting after the service (overlapping with when we would typically have Sunday School).
Please check the daily e-blast for the links to these events or email Jean if you need the information: admin@unitarianlincoln.org

Spenta Kandawalla, Prentis Hemphill and Staci K. Haines, hosted by adrienne maree brown. We had a conversation about trauma, oppression, healing and organizing for structural change.
