![]() History Professor Frank Edler is scheduled to present the 2022 C.A. Sorensen Lecture on Friday, November 11, at 7:00PM in the Unitarian Church of Lincoln Sanctuary. His theme is "Remembering the Sorensens: Keeping Peace in Mind." While documenting the history of the Unitarian Church of Lincoln, Edler has drawn upon the experiences of Christian Abraham Sorensen, a former President of the Lincoln Unitarian Church and leading Nebraskan Republican politician who accompanied Henry Ford on his "peace ship" mission to Europe in 1915. Sorensen's son, Ted, was a close confidant and speech writer for President John F. Kennedy. He was at Kennedy's side in 1962 when the Cuban Missile Crisis nearly brought the world to nuclear war. At a time when current tensions with nuclear powers Russia and China are reaching new heights, it is important to remember the efforts of C.A. and his son, Ted, to promote peaceful resolution of conflicts. You won't want to miss this important and timely lecture, made possible by a 1997 endowment from Thomas Sorensen in honor of his father C. A., and generous contributors from the Unitarian Church of Lincoln.
