The Sorensen Lecture Committee has planned a timely and informative presentation for Sunday, October 17 at 7:00 p.m. “Critical Race Theory: What We Need to Know” will feature a presentation by Dr. John Raible, Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in the College of Education and Human Sciences at UNL followed by an extensive Question & Answer period moderated by T.J. McDowell, UNL Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs (Student Life and Leadership).
Due primarily to the attendance restrictions at our church, the event will be offered exclusively via Zoom and attendance will be limited to our church community and members of OLLI. As the subject of Critical Race Theory has become extremely controversial recently and, in the opinion of some, extensively misunderstood, the Sorensen Lecture Committee sees this event as an opportunity to not only learn what it is and isn’t, but also to offer an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and to gain insight into the reasons for the conflict of opinions. The Zoom link will appear in All Church E-Blasts closer to the October 17 event. (It is also on the Event page linked to the Unitarian Church of Lincoln Facebook Social Group.) Questions about the event may be directed to Dori Bush or Steve Larrick, Co-Chairpersons of the Committee. We sincerely hope that you will be able to attend as the Committee strives to provide educational and informative lectures related to important contemporary issues.
