Congratulations to Denise Dickeson who was crowned our newest (no longer) Unsung Unitarian! Denise’s name will be added to the display to the right of the name tags and she will have a designated parking place for the next year.
NOMINATION FOR UNSUNG UNITARIAN 2023 Denise is the longest-standing Dazzler, a group of volunteer church office workers. She has staffed and continues to staff the Church Bookstore for many years, sorting, pricing and displaying books for purchase in our bookstore. Denise is the guardian and dedicated water bearer for the church fig tree in our Gallery Space. In addition, she cares for the Columbarium, located on the church grounds; she scrubs down the Columbarium several times a year. Denise is often “the woman in the office window” on Sunday mornings, answering questions, overseeing activities, problem solving, and directing traffic, as well as cleaning off the office window (and all of the doors) of the accumulation of fingerprints several times a month. Denise was born into Unitarian Universalism as both her parents were members of this church, even when The Unitarian Church of Lincoln building was located downtown! Denise herself joined, signing the book and pledging in 1972. My friend, Denise, is a friend to all and a good neighbor who bakes cookies for Little Free Pantries and gives rides to people to pick up fresh foods at Food Bank distribution sites.
